Hardegg is presented as the smallest village in Austria located close to the Czech border. The local matter of interest is the parish church of St. Vit from 13th century. There is a tomb in the undercroft. It is the tomb of Lords of Hardegg. The lower part of it serves as a Constance, the upper part as a chapel. The Hardegg village lies on the junction of Dyje and Fugnitz, the strongest inflow between Vranov and Znojmo. The domain feature is the romantic castle built between 12th and 13th century. Nowadays it is a place of memorial of Maxmilian Habsbursky, a Mexican emperor murdered in 1867. Exhibits of South America culture complete the part of exhibition. The castle is opened from April to November all day long. It is a starting point to the national park Podyji. There is also a border passing for pedestrians and cyclist.
